For the last year and a half I’ve kept new work to myself. I explored and experimented quietly and showed very little of my process to others. But as of October 6, that all changes. My upcoming solo show, called Conversations and Color, opens at 160 Spear Street in San Francisco on Friday, October 6 at 6 p.m. I'd like to personally invite you to the exhibition.  RSVP, here

Heather Day in her San Francisco Live/Work Space

Displayed in a first-floor storefront near Mission Street, the new works allow you to step into a new perspective and rhythm. Each painting connects seemingly unrelated concepts into an experience that slows down life. When you observe the rhythm of a tide and the rhythm of a city—it all breaks down into line, texture and constant reactions. Then color fills every moment with emotion.

This show, hosted by Athen B. Gallery, is a culmination of a year and a half of unbridled curiosity and discovery. I left the studio often to travel in cities and nature. Then painted what I learned from looking, listening and feeling. The more I painted, the more I wanted to keep looking. It was research; a quest in search of candor. Each painting is an organic complication that shares a moment or realization. From the communication between positive and negative space to the punctuation of color, I listened to the ambiguity of ideas, memories and experiences; and I made conversations in a new way.

Wanting to open this experience for community participation, I’ve partnered with Subaru to host onsite conversations about the creative process. The schedule of speakers and topics will be announced on September 25. Talks will be given October 10, 17 and 24.

I’d love for you to come. If anything, art is about sharing. I hope these paintings spark more conversations and I hope they take you somewhere I’ve been.

see you soon! - Heather

The exhibition itself will round off on Friday, November 3, 2017. If you'd like to inquire about the available work, please email
